Winemaker Notes

Crimson red with purple hues, the Yalumba Organic Shiraz 2010 is bursting with varietal aromas of plum, red cherry and mulberry with notes of violets and dried herbs. On the palate the flavours of plum, allspice and blueberries are supported by hints of milk chocolate. This is a fruit driven, medium bodied wine with fine, soft tannins and a bright, juicy, persistent finish. Drink now or cellar for up to three years. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Not the darkest, biggest or richest Shiraz to ever come out of Australia, this is nevertheless a delightful wine. A green peppercorn note accents red raspberry and cherry fruit, with just a hint of vanilla in the background.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”
