Distiller Notes
Wild Turkey Straight Rye Whiskey is an 81 proof (40.5% alcohol) ode to America’s first distilled spirit: rye whiskey. When making Wild Turkey Rye, we use a deeper, “alligator” char for extra flavor. Big, broad vanilla and spice notes burst through without changing the bold rye taste. Wild Turkey Rye stands up to any mixer and shines through in cocktails.

Made with a mix of 4- and 5-year-old rye whiskies and aged in barrels with “alligator” char to add more flavor, this relatively new offering is delicious. Look for a bright, saturated golden color and sweet vanilla and fruit aromas. On the palate, it has a soft texture and rounded feel, and lingering caramel notes pepped up with the bold spiciness characteristic of rye.
Known for its peppery, spicy bite, Rye serves as the ideal base for cocktails like the Sazerac, Manhattan or Old Fashioned. In order for a spirit to be labeled an American Rye Whiskey, the mash bill must be comprised of at least 51% rye grain. The remainder of the mash is most often a combination of malted barley, wheat or corn. After distillation is complete, the spirit is transferred to unused, charred white oak barrels for a minimum of two years, though many producers choose to age longer.
