Winemaker Notes

Equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot showcase the vineyard's strengths. The wine is barrel aged in 70% new French oak to provide the desired aromas of sweet vanilla and pungent toasted oak. The flavors are soft and fruity. The wine structure is firm, but not hard. Elegant now, the wine will reward those with patience.

Blended in equal parts of Merlot and the two Cabernets, and made with 70% new French oak, it’s all unintegrated blackberries, cherries, violets, minerals, sweet cedarwood and vanilla spice. Quite a fine wine whose softly complex tannins will enable it to age.

Volker Eisele Family Estate creates enticing wines from the Chiles Valley District of the Napa Valley. Organically farmed for over 40 years, the Estate produces wines of uncommon balance and finesse. All fruit for our limited production wines is grown in our Chiles Valley vineyard.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its elegance, depth and complexity. Terzetto is a unique proprietary blend of co-fermented Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, while Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, combined in the Bordeaux style, create the luscious Gemini.

Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.

Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
