Winemaker Notes

Ruby red with a purplish touch. On the nose, it presents fresh red fruits aromas, prune, raspberry, vanilla great varietal expression. Chocolate, dulce de leche. Great structure and volume in the mouth, great persistence, fleshy and juicy tannins, good acidity, well balanced between wood and variety. Spicy and mineral.

The 2007 Las Loicas Reserva Malbec was also produced with organically grown grapes and received the same elevage as the Cabernet. Medium purple in color, it displays an enticing nose of cedar, cinnamon, lavender, incense, and black cherry. This is followed by a medium-bodied, elegantly styled Malbec with a velvety texture, spicy fruit, lively acidity, and a lengthy finish.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
