Winemaker Notes

Like the Martinsons, Urban Legend Cellars' Cabernet is beautifully balanced in a classic style. Bright right red cherry and deep, rich redcurrant notes are paired with mouthwatering acidity. Tannins are round and restrained with a hint of coffee and tobacco in structure. Underlying bright fruit and mellow tannins is the briariness of a blackberry bramble—just that hint of the vine that gives Cabernet its special varietal quality.

Urban Legend's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic—as is the food love to pair with it. A thick, juicy slice of prime rib is a natural foil for its refined tannins; a filet or a smoky pork chop accents its beautiful cherry fruit. But, don't forget that all-American favorite, the burger: UL Cabernet makes simple bistro fare a special event.

Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
