Winemaker Notes

Deep dark red with a purple hue. On the nose, vibrant notes of blueberry, plum, coconut, pastry and smoked meats. On the palate, immediately appealing, with lovely weight and glossy texture, this full bodied Shiraz has hints of blueberry pie, sweet spices, plum, and fresh pastries. Sweet fruits and a glossy, velvet texture caresses the palate, complimented by secondary notes of smoked meats and coal dust. Grainy and savoury tannins pull the wine through to an exceptionally long and complex finish.

Deep garnet/purple, the 2013 Shiraz Lily's Garden is profoundly scented of baked black berries, preserved plums, prunes and Szechuan pepper with accents of bay leaves, cloves and spice box. Concentrated and rich on the full-bodied palate, it is packed with warm black fruits with cedar notes and tons of spices and structured by firm, rounded tannins. It finishes very long.

Rich and luscious, with fleshy dark plum, black cherry and licorice notes. Toast, cocoa and black tea details create a generous chorus. Velvety finish. Drink now through 2026.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”

Known for opulent red wines with intense power and concentration, McLaren Vale is home to perhaps the most “classic” style of Australian Shiraz. Vinified on its own or in Rhône Blends, these hot-climate wines are deeply colored and high in extract with signature hints of dark chocolate and licorice. Cabernet Sauvignon is also produced in a similar style.

Whites, often made from Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc tend to be opulent and full of tropical, stone and citrus fruit.
