Thorn-Clarke Ron Thorn Shiraz 2010 Front Label
Thorn-Clarke Ron Thorn Shiraz 2010 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Deep red with a slight purple hue on release. The wine has a rich mix of dark chocolate infused with coffee bean and black licorice, then scents of tar, aniseed, raw (pure) soy and black olive on the nose. The palate is expansive, and yet balanced and finessed. An amalgam of dark berried flavors and textural sensations. The 100% new oak is completely absorbed, meshed with ripe tannins, completing a palate of impressive length and youthfulness.

Big and rich, offering powerful, meaty, spicy black fruit and crème brûlée flavors that gain momentum in an open texture. The finish is framed by fine tannins and refreshing acidity on the long finish. Drink now through 2025.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”
