The 2019 Saumur Champigny Les Mémoires is showing very well today, revealing a vibrant, elegant bouquet of peonies, roses, licorice and spices. Less charming than the 2020, it’s more complex. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny with bright acids and a lively mid-palate, it’s mineral and telluric with subtle roasting notes and a vertical, ethereal presence on the finish enhanced by chalky dry extracts.Rating: 94+

Here Cabernet Franc shines as a single varietal wine or in blends, expressing sumptuous fruit, savory aromas and polished tannins.
Marked by great châteaux built with the same tuffeau limestone that is also responsible for the excavation of so many of the famed Loire caves, Saumur is famous for its Chenin blanc based sparkling wines. Inside the Saumur region, Saumur-Champigny creates some of the Loire’s greatest Cabernet Francs.
