Winemaker Notes

Intense, ruby color. The nose profile refers to aromas of cherry and plum melted with notes of licorice, pepper and spices. The palate is wide, persistent and balanced thanks to a smooth tannic texture well integrated into its structure. An iconic wine with a long finish with a remarkable aging potential.

Professional Ratings

The 2021 Campaccio is packed with blackberry, new leather, liquorice, incense, chocolate and espresso. This powerhouse blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot is not in any way subtle, but it is very nicely done in its style. Readers should expect a potent, bombastic wine built on textural opulence. I would give this a year or two in bottle to help shed some of its baby fat.

Spiced cherries, graphite and black licorice on the nose. The palate starts off a little tart, then finishes with dry tannins. Medium body. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sangiovese, aged for 12 months in French barrels. Drink or hold.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
