Distiller Notes
Contradiction Rye is a marriage of three straight rye whiskeys. One they distill and age in West Virginia and the others come from Indiana and Tennessee. Being a union of different rye whiskeys, the flavor and finish of Contradiction Rye is a as unique as it is uniquely delicious. Like all there other whiskeys, Contradiction Rye is non chill filtered, and produced in small, numbered batches.
Golden and bronze hues with aromas of nutmeg, strawberry, and cream soda. On the palate baking spices, orange zest, cream and a touch of mint. The long finish has notes of cinnamon and toasted oak.
Known for its peppery, spicy bite, Rye serves as the ideal base for cocktails like the Sazerac, Manhattan or Old Fashioned. In order for a spirit to be labeled an American Rye Whiskey, the mash bill must be comprised of at least 51% rye grain. The remainder of the mash is most often a combination of malted barley, wheat or corn. After distillation is complete, the spirit is transferred to unused, charred white oak barrels for a minimum of two years, though many producers choose to age longer.
