Distiller Notes
Six Dogs Karoo was the very first gin to come out of the Distillery. It took exactly 187 iterations and over two years of trials to get this gin perfectly balanced and to their liking. A modern classic gin with a big juniper heart, Six Dogs Karoo is a delicate and balanced gin of twelve select botanicals. Its distinguishing botanicals are grown on their farm, which intersects three different bioregions, including the succulent Karoo, a vast semi-arid region that's home to some of the world's richest succulent flora. It is from here that they gather the Karoo thorn flower and wild lavender that make this gin unique. Subtle citrus notes are introduced through the inclusion of limes, mandarins and farm-grown lemon.
Enjoying an enthusiastic resurgence in modern cocktail culture, Gin, a.k.a. ‘Dutch Courage,’ was originally touted as a 16th century cure for cowardice and stomach ailments. Arguably the broadest and most dynamic category of spirits in terms of flavor profiles and production styles, Gin is a distilled grain spirit that derives its primary flavor from juniper berries and secondary flavors from a dazzling array of spices, herbs, fruits and botanicals. It is both produced and enjoyed all around the world and is most commonly mixed into cocktails such as the Martini or simply added to tonic water.
