Schenk SA is Switzerland's leader in the wine sector. The company combines diverse activities such as grape crushing, winemaking, bottling and packaging, storing, importing, marketing and distributing.
Built in 1915 by Arnold Schenk to sustain the expansion of his wine trade activity, it was among the first large and modern wineries. A wide range of Swiss and foreign products plus its own grape juice brand Grapillon. Main clients are wholesalers and retailers. Core brands distributed are Château de Châtagneréaz, Domaine du Martheray, Château Maison Blanche, Château d’Allaman, Cave St-Pierre, Cave St Georges, Murviedro, Bacio della Luna, Arthur Barolet, Château d’Aigueville, As de Coeur.
Enhancing quality and diversity of wine grapes in recent years after the Swiss government lifted import controls on wine, Switzerland is beginning to gain some ground aside its European neighbors. While its main variety is the white Chasselas, more than half of Switzerland’s wine production is red. The country has 15,000 ha of vineyards mainly in the cantons of Geneva, Neuchâtel, Ticino, Valais and Vaud.
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
