    Winemaker Notes

The straw yellow color with greenish reflections emphasizes the quality of the grapes as well as the delicate techniques used in its production. A well rounded and palatable wine, beautifully structured, with a sapid taste. It is soft on the palate and has the typical bitterish aftertaste with a slight suggestion of almond (typical of this variety).

This 9 hectares Estate is located 300 metres above the sea level at Coste del Molino in the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC area. The vineyards are planted exclusively to Verdicchio.

They have clay soils and southern exposures, features which are responsible for the main characteristichs of Sartarelli wines: intense fruit aromas, richness and body on the palate.

Stretching along Italy’s eastern coast with neighbors, Umbria to its west and Abruzzo to its south, Marche is a region with a varying climate from north to south. Its coastal plains roll into hills that become the Apennine Mountains, which run the length of the country. The Marche's best red wines come from the grapes, Montepulciano and Sangiovese; the local Verdicchio makes refreshing, crisp and light whites.

One of central Italy’s classic white grapes, Verdicchio thrives in the Marche region; its best versions come from two distinct appellations. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, to the west of Ancona, is only 20 miles from the Adriatic Sea and the smaller, Verdicchio di Matelica, is inland and at a higher elevation. Castelli di Jesi is Marche’s largest DOC but its best wines come from its hillside vineyards. The best Verdicchio boast fresh citrus fruit with a mineral lift, a sturdy finish and can age for a decade. Recent genetic discoveries have proven that the Verdicchio grape is identical to Trebbiano di Soave, Trebbiano di Lugana and Trebbiano Veltenesi.
