    Winemaker Notes

The smaller yield proved to be of good fortune as red wines are richly concentrated including our 1996 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. A brilliant and deep violet hew makes way for an abundance of blueberry and dried-cherry fruit in the nose with a wisp of gardenia, candied citrus peel and star anise. Firm bodied with moderate tannins enveloping layers of flavors that are fruitful like blueberry and currant yet complimented with a touch of chocolate-caramel and a slight note of roasted nuts.

The winery farms and sources grapes from vineyards throughout Sonoma County, focusing on Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill. Rodney Strong Vineyards is best known for its estate-bottled and vineyard-designated wines, and is also recognized for their sustainable and Fish Friendly Farming, dedication to solar energy production and becoming carbon neutral in 2009.
