Distiller Notes

The Agave notes are neatly complemented with aromas obtained from its 18 month aging process in white oak barrels: caramel, butterscotch, honey, tobacco and even leather. No predominance of any note, this is a very rich and complex tequila with a smooth and luscious finish.

Our Añejo mixes great and can be consumed on the rocks, but it is best enjoyed in a snifter.

The delicately barrel-aged tonality includes cinnamon toast, black cherry, mocha latte and a touch of brine. A twinge of heat on the mouth encourages the spreading of peppered honey to coat the tongue. Tobacco and sage make for a brushy finish. This would be a wise coupling with a fine cigar.

Because of their great complexity, Anejo Tequilas are most often used as a substitute for Brandy or Whiskey in cocktails like the Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Anejo Tequilas must be aged in oak barrels for between one and three years, while Extra Anejo refers to any Tequila aged longer than three years. The prolonged contact with the oak barrel allows the wood to make a much stronger impression on the Tequila by adding toffee, caramel and vanilla to the sweet, spicy agave flavor profile.
