Redemption 10-Year-Old Barrel Proof Rye is an older iteration of Redemption Rye, distilled by MGP Ingredients, named Distiller of the Year in 2015. MGP's facility was built in 1847 and later acquired by the Seagram’s corporation who have developed an immense capability for whiskey production in North America. That knowledge and expertise of making great Rye & Bourbon whiskeys has been passed down through generations and thus in this exceptional whiskey.
Aromas of black caramel, molasses and vanilla layered over tones of freshly cut grass and hints of ginger. On the palate spicy rye notes evolve with flavors of dark chocolate, licorice and fennel laced together with cardamom, black pepper and tarragon. The finish is lengthy, mounds of caraway seed and muddled spearmint with a peppery astringency.

Redemption delivers a 10 year old, barrel proof rye (sourced from MGP); the bottled whiskey is mingled from only six barrels. Nose of hot, bitter rye spice and caramel with oak. Great whambam! feel of sweet whiskey followed immediately by oily, spicy rye, which then controls the flavor and finish without dominating. Not over-oaked, and these older MGP barrels are finally showing what 95% rye can do. At 6 years, it could be a high-rye bourbon; this simply shouts rye. Fascination.

Truly American, the spirit is crafted in the river town of Lawrenceburg, Indiana at the nearly 200-year old MGP distillery.
Redemption is known for its ‘Rye Forward’ recipes, high proof, quality aging and exceptional blending techniques done by Master Blender, Dave Carpenter, that work to highlight the dry, spicy flavors for which Rye was originally celebrated.
Beyond the blending of core expressions, Dave is also responsible for the launching innovations such as the Redemption Rum Cask Finish and a Redemption Single Barrel Program.
Made in the style of true pre-prohibition rye, Redemption drinks well neat or on the rocks, but it also shines in any classic cocktail such as a Manhattan, Old Fashioned, or Sazerac.
Known for its peppery, spicy bite, Rye serves as the ideal base for cocktails like the Sazerac, Manhattan or Old Fashioned. In order for a spirit to be labeled an American Rye Whiskey, the mash bill must be comprised of at least 51% rye grain. The remainder of the mash is most often a combination of malted barley, wheat or corn. After distillation is complete, the spirit is transferred to unused, charred white oak barrels for a minimum of two years, though many producers choose to age longer.
