Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon coming from a vineyard in the relatively cooler AVA of Coombsville, the opaque purple-black colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard reveals notes of spice cake, star anise and cloves over a core of warm plums, red and black currants and black olives, plus a hint of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied, taut, firmly structured palate gives up vibrant fruit and a long, mineral-laced finish.

Amazing aromas of blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and lead pencil. So aromatic. Dense and full-bodied but so dialed in for a 2015. Light bitter cedar and hazelnuts. Tactile tannins. A great wine.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is a wild, exotic beauty. The advantages of a cool site in this torrid vintage are evident. A rush of red-toned fruit, wild flowers, vanillin and sweet oak notes open first. The aromatics alone are so alluring. All things considered, the 2015 has aged impeccably.
A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
Situated in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley in the Vaca range, the vineyards of the Coombsville AVA enjoy a long growing season mitigated by cool, San Pablo Bay fog.
