Winemaker Notes

A striking garnet hue sets the stage for blackberry and huckleberry aromas, accented by graphite and tobacco leaf. Vibrant flavors of cherry, cassis, and dried cranberry integrate seamlessly with hints of dried herbs and star anise. Polished tannins create a broad, textured palate, while oyster shell minerality lends a sophisticated, savory edge. The finish is long and lingering, balancing elegance with youthful energy.

Blend: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc

So luscious, balanced, vivid and deep, showing the silky tannins and cool fruit notes of this southern Napa district. Contains 6% petit verdot, 2% cabernet franc and 4% merlot. Aged in 53% new French oak.

This Cabernet Sauvignon, with 2% Cabernet Franc, was aged for 20 months in 53% new French oak barrels. In 2022, savoury spices abound in this red- and black-fruited wine from Paul Hobbs's Coombsville estate. Leather, violets, and loamy earth mingle with vibrant currant fruit. Medium-bodied with crunchy tannins, it unfolds through notes of cool, wet slate, sagebrush, and underbrush, leading to a refined and expressive finish.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville includes 6% Petit Verdot—"the most PV I've ever used," said Paul Hobbs—and 3% each Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Aged in 50% new French oak, the nose easily blends black cherries and cassis with mere hints of cedar and vanilla. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and broad-shouldered but supple. Loaded with dark fruit, the texture just turns the slightest bit coarse on the finish, like so many wines from the vintage. It's still excellent and a reasonable value in the context of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Shows the vintages forward, soft and friendly fruit, with a hint of structure that keeps this stable through the finish. Acai and blueberry notes are supported by gentle iris and ink details. Drink now through 2031.

A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
