Winemaker Notes

Light to medium yellow, with a bright, youthful hue. The nose is wonderfully aromatic, with notes of honeysuckle, meyer lemon, mango and pineapple. These fruity aromas are balanced by a subtle undercurrent of floral and honeyed nuances, adding depth and complexity. On the palate, the wine reveals a smooth and balanced profile. Ripe pear and tropical fruit flavors bring a juicy, vibrant quality. The wine's moderate acidity is well-integrated, offering a refreshing backbone that keeps the flavors lively and engaging without overpowering the fruit. The texture is round and elegant, with a clean and inviting mouthfeel.

The 2024 Chardonnay Oakville is bright, crisp and refreshing. Citrus peel, white flowers, chalk and white pepper give the 2024 tons of aromatic brightness and plenty of high tones. This is an especially nervy edition of O'Shaughnessy's Chardonnay. The 2024 was aged in 55% French oak, 40% concrete and 15% stainless steel drums.

Medium gold-hued, the 2023 Chardonnay offers an outstanding nose of riper stone fruits, caramelized citrus, brioche, and honeyed floral notes. Aged 10 months on lees, it's medium-bodied and nicely concentrated on the palate, with good acidity, integrated oak, and a good finish.

One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.

Home to some of the most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignon in America, Napa Valley’s Oakville district stretches across the center of Napa's valley floor and foothills between the Vaca and Mayacamas Mountains. This AVA is home to the legendary To Kalon Vineyard and Martha's Vineyard, as well as many powerhouse wineries including Screaming Eagle, Silver Oak, Robert Mondavi, Opus One, Far Niente and Groth.

The climate is generally warm and agreeable, resulting in year after year of favorable vintages. Summer days see a gentle tug of war between warmer inland air and the cool air coming in from the San Pablo Bay, creating an ideal environment to grow red varieties. Oakville's diverse soils, namely ancient sea bedrock, clay and gravel, are well-drained, and perfect for high-caliber viticulture.

Cabernet here is often bottled varietally but is also popular in Bordeaux Blends. Oakville wines are known for their silky, sensual textures, structured tannins, dark and brooding fruit and lovely aromatics. These age-worthy and prestigious wines are favored by collectors throughout the world.
