Winemaker Notes

Electric lemon curd layered over fresh cut peach jumps from the glass, followed by layers of white floral, melon rind, and salty ocean air. The attack is taut and focused, with a crisp mouthfeel of melon rind which becomes fleshy and long.

Deliciously pure, this Rosé is mouthwatering and cleansing, and will pair with anything fresh and seasonal.

    A blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache Noir and 25% Grenache Gris, the 2022 Old Vine Rosé has a medium cherry-pink color and pretty scents of peach, dried herbs and charcuterie. The light-bodied palate is bright and refreshing with a deep core of fruit, a touch of anchoring texture and a long, spicy finish. It drinks well on its own, although it will pair widely at the table.

Whether it’s playful and fun or savory and serious, most rosé today is not your grandmother’s White Zinfandel, though that category remains strong. Since the pigment in red wines comes from keeping fermenting juice in contact with the grape skins for an extended period, it follows that a pink wine can be made using just a brief period of skin contact—usually just a couple of days. Responsible for the vast majority of American wine production, if California were a country, it would be the world’s fourth largest wine-producing nation. Sonoma County is best known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé and Zinfandel. The Central Coast has carved out a niche with Rhône Blends based on Grenache and Syrah, while Mendocino has found success with cool climate varieties such as Pinot noir, Riesling and Gewürztraminer. With all the diversity that California wine has to offer, any wine lover will find something to get excited about here.
