Distiller Notes
A small batch, 91 proof (45.5% abv.), Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky. Old Pogue was the flagship product of the original H.E. Pogue Distillery in 1876 and is also the first product released by the modern Pogue Distillery. The product was fashioned after an original bottle of Old Pogue that remained in the family for over a century. This easy-drinking bourbon can be enjoyed neat or with a small amount of ice or water.

The nosing passes find alluring, sweet grain and plum scents, delicate aromas of paraffin, confectioner's suga, and a trace of maple. Palate entry is silky smooth and tastes of light caramel, buttered sweet corn and maple. Concludes firm, warm on the tongue, and moderately oily. A new American small-batch gem.

Although Bourbon may be produced anywhere in the United States, it is most commonly associated with Bourbon County, Kentucky, where it has been produced since the late 18th century. Made from a mash bill containing at least 51% corn, the Bourbon Whiskey distillate must be aged in new, charred white oak barrels. Bourbon Whiskeys are bottled at eighty proof (40% abv) or higher and cannot contain any added color or flavor. A versatile spirit that can be sipped neat, with water or on the rocks, it also performs nicely added to cocktails like the Old Fashioned.
