Winemaker Notes

Noble Vines Sauvignon Blanc is named for block 242 of our home vineyard in the San Bernabe AVA of Monterey. This cool location along the central coast of California – similar to the climate of Marlborough, New Zealand – produces bright citrus notes found in this wine. The loamy hillside soils of block 242 are heavy and vigorous, allowing the vines to grow protective canopies to shade the fruit from the afternoon sun, resulting in Sauvignon Blanc with brilliant aromatics and balanced acidity. The primary vine stock in this wine is Sauvignon Blanc 1, which originated in Bordeaux, France and has adapted well to California.

A fun, uncomplicated—not to mention bang-for-the-buck—Sauvignon Blanc perfect for casual consumption. Find fun notes of Meyer lemon juice, ripe white peaches, cut grass, lawn daisies, green melon pith and a touch of passionfruit.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
