Winemaker Notes
Intense crimson with a slight garnet hue. The nose opens on ripe red fruit aromas, especially Burlat cherry, blackberry and bilberry together with a touch of violet, complemented after airing by red fruit notes of redcurrant and wild strawberry as well as hints of rosemary. After a seductive attack on a mix of fresh red and black fruit, the well-rounded and elegantly structured mid-palate leads into a finish sustained by supple and refined tannins.
Pair with vegetarian moussaka, beef carpaccio, or savory tart with grilled vegetables.
In 1930, Baron Philippe de Rothschild created Mouton Cadet with the aim of bringing Bordeaux wine to a wide audience. His two ambitions were to ensure constant quality and to promote the Bordeaux vineyard. Now Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, with his sister Camille Sereys de Rothschild and his brother Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, are guiding Mouton Cadet into a new era. Since 2014, they have placed people and the earth at the center of the process of making Mouton Cadet.

For this collection, Mouton Cadet highlights the wines of the grandchildren of Baron Philippe de Rothschild with their own unique wines - by Mathilde Rose by Nathan Sauvignon Blanc, and by Pierre rouge. Bordeaux wines easy to drink, lively and ecological, inspired by southwest lifestyle, they symbolize both transmission and ecological transition.
In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
