Meletti Amaro Liqueur
Meletti Amaro is produced according to a secret family recipe that originated at the turn of the century. This remarkable blend of aromatic fruits, herbs, and spices creates a perfectly balanced digestivo that is neither overly bitter, nor overly sweet. Amaro is traditionally enjoyed on its own after a meal, but the intoxicating aromas and flavors of sweet orange peel and bitter genziana root, a plant local Le Marche, along with notes of cloves, add a unique component to cocktails.
Since 1870, the Meletti family has been producing Italy's most beloved liqueurs in the fertile lands of Ascoli Piceno on the Adriatic coastal region of Le Marche. Under the direction of Silvio Meletti, only the finest, natural ingredients are cultivated for each blend and personal attention is afforded to every phase of production. Today, the fifth generation of the family carries the vision forth using Silvio's traditional methods and the original recipes to create a collection of artisanal cordials, digestifs, and liqueurs of distinctive character.
First prepared by 13th century Italian monks as herbal medicines and elixirs, Liqueurs are distilled spirits that have been combined with flavoring agents. A range of herbs, spices, nuts, fruits and flowers can be used, and a sweetener such as sugar or corn syrup is often added. While typically rather sweet, some examples are herbaceous or tart and pair exceptionally well with desserts or act as a delightful addition to cocktails.
