Winemaker Notes
It is a very pale yellow wine with very subtle green hues. On the nose, a complex and delicate blend of ripe citrus and tropical fruits stands out, mingled with saline notes and a slight spiciness typical of this variety in coastal climates. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, concentrated and lively, fruity, with a lingering minerality and salinity on the finish.
It is suggested to enjoy it in the company of fish prepared as ceviche, tiraditos or tuna tartare, carpaccio, sushi or cooked with light sauces, raw seafood, especially scallops and oysters, fresh salads, it can also accompany goat cheeses, blue cheese, etc.

The vineyard behind the medium-bodied 2024 Sauvignon Blanc EQ Coastal is very near the Pacific Ocean, where it’s windy and steep, a difficult place to grow grapes. The decomposed granite soils are rare, too. Refreshing, the wine is herbal and grassy and offers ample mouthfeel and tension from the natural acidity. Layered, it was fermented in concrete egg and stainless steel on the lees and is a rich, complex, gastronomic wine with good length and lasting flavors of tropical fruit, lime, jalapeno, and salt.

The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc EQ Coastal from Casablanca fermented one-third in concrete eggs, one-third in used oak and one-third in stainless steel. From a vineyard at the edge of the appellation, it shows restrained, reductive aromas of lime and mint. On the palate, intensity and elevated freshness are underpinned by mid-weight texture and density. Long and saline, the 2024 will gain complexity with bottle age.

This sauvignon blanc from a cooler climate delivers a fruit profile full of green gooseberries, guava, chopped celery and a hint of chalk. Pure and racy with medium body, good intensity and length.

The 2024 EQ Coastal Sauvignon Blanc represents a notable step up from the Corralillo bottling, opening with a pure, floral bouquet that has more definition and focus than its introductory sibling. The palate combines textural breadth with a tensile core that carries through the crisp, lifted finish.
Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
A region that has become synonymous with some of the best whites of Chile, the Casablanca Valley is full of dozens of bodegas who either grow fruit here or come from outside to source from local growers for their own white wine programs. The valley runs from east to west, which means that its westernmost vineyards receive the most cooling influence from the reliable afternoon sea breezes. The soils also tend to be heavier in clay in the west, whereas the eastern end of the valley is warmer and its soils are predominantly granitic. Sauvignon blanc thrives here, Chardonnay does well and Pinot noir is not uncommon.
