A gentle, light burgundy hue welcomes you to savor the red cherry, fresh strawberry, and warm almond aromatics followed by a layer of lightly toasted oak supporting the red fruit. The palate offers notes of pomegranate and raspberry around a dense core of fresh red berry and herbs. This classic, medium-bodied Pinot Noir has a silky mouthfeel, bright acidity, and soft, subtle tannins that linger just long enough to take another sip. It’s elegant, refined, and bright, with perfectly balanced acidity, fruit, and oak.
Pinot Noir is the second-most planted grape in Santa Barbara County, just behind Chardonnay. It thrives in cooler areas of the region, namely in the of the Sta. Rita Hills, which is part of Santa Barbara’s larger Santa Ynez Valley sub-appellation. Thought for decades to be too cool for viticulture, Sta. Rita Hills began to gain notoriety in the 1970’s, thanks to the pioneering work of Richard Sandford and Michael Benedict, among others.
