Lagavulin Distillers Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2003 Front Bottle Shot
Lagavulin Distillers Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2003 Front Bottle Shot

Distiller Notes

Lagavulin Distillers Edition is double matured in Pedro Ximinez cask wood, this is a mellow Lagavulin, peat-rich, sweet and very more-ish.

It is the color of golden treacle. On the nose, intense peat and vanilla. A raisin sweetness checks the smoke. Iodine-edged peat and crisp, roasty malt. Satisfying and enticing. On the palate, a clear, grassy malt, then the peat lands – smoke filling the mouth. A very salty tang, the middle offers coffee, vanilla and fruit. The finish is incredibly long, even by Islay standards. Fruit, peat and long-lasting oak. Very chewable.

“A good gulp of hot Scotch Whisky at bedtime–it’s not very scientific, but it helps!”

Alexander Fleming, Scottish inventor of penicillin, prescribed it as a cure for the common cold. Today Single Malt Scotch Whiskies are prized by enthusiasts and aficionados the world over for their rarity, age and complexity. By definition these must be produced in Scotland from a single distillery and made entirely from malted barley, using a pot still. The appearance, aroma and flavor of a Single Malt Scotch Whisky can vary widely depending on whether it was produced in the Highlands, Lowlands Islands, Speyside, Islay or Campbelltown regions.
