Winemaker Notes

It's love at first sip with this classic Mendoza Malbec! Intense aromas of red rose petals and red berry fruits fill the nose. Enjoy violet, berry, and mocha flavors on the palate with just a hint of blueberry. As these flavors evolve you'll be treated to a hint of chocolate on the finish. Superb to drink on its own, but perfect with steaks on the grill or even pizza and pasta. Don't miss this one though with your dark chocolate dessert!

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2010 Cocina Malbec was aged for 14 months in 20% new French and American oak and bottled without fining or filtration. Dark ruby red in color, this medium-bodied effort sports a nose of spice box, tobacco, violets, and black cherry. In the glass it opens to reveal a bit of structure, savory flavors, and a forward personality. Drink this solid value over the next 3-4 years.

La Posta, South America
La Posta Winery Video

Argentina’s best small-family growers express their individual passions with single-grower, single-vineyard wines. Each wine named after a grower family demonstrates the wide range of Malbec aroma and flavor profiles generated by distinct Mendoza appellations.

La Posta translates to “the tavern,” where the farmers meet to discuss their soils, their vines, their quest for superior flavors, and their passions for life. In collaboration with wine pioneer Laura Catena and esteemed winemaker Luis Reginato, the hard work and skill of the people behind the wines are expressed in La Posta.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
