La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2001 Front Label
La Braccesca Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2001 Front Label

Winemaker Notes

Made from a blend of 80% Prugnolo Gentile, 15% Canaiolo Nero and 5% Merlot, Mammolo and Colorino and grown in varied estate vineyards in Montepulciano. The wine was vinified in stainless steel tanks, racked, and completed malolactic fermentation by the end of November. A portion of the wine was aged in 20-50 Hl barrels while a small percentage was aged in 3-year-old barrique for a total of 24 months. This Vino Nobile is deep violet in color with a very intense bouquet that highlights the wine's acidity and excellent extraction. It is beautiful, clean and very big on the palate.
"
"88 points." Fragrant and floral with a perfumed nose of red currants and violets, medium body, a silky texture, and good persistence on the finish. It will supply another five or six years of good drinking."--Wine Advocate 4/29/05

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
