Father and son Chet and Trey Zoeller founded Jefferson's Bourbon back in 1997, inspired by a family distilling pedigree dating back to 1799. Jefferson's has been best known for its Ocean whiskeys, aged on ships that sail to ports around the world. But its Reserve bourbon is also very popular, and this spring the label added its first cask-strength expression. As our highest-scoring Jefferson's expression in many years, it's a stunning whiskey. Rich dessert flavors of chocolate, vanilla taffy, melted caramel, crème brûlée, and strawberry jam sprinkled with pepper spice are wrapped in oak, earthiness, and spice, all working together in beautiful harmony.
Although Bourbon may be produced anywhere in the United States, it is most commonly associated with Bourbon County, Kentucky, where it has been produced since the late 18th century. Made from a mash bill containing at least 51% corn, the Bourbon Whiskey distillate must be aged in new, charred white oak barrels. Bourbon Whiskeys are bottled at eighty proof (40% abv) or higher and cannot contain any added color or flavor. A versatile spirit that can be sipped neat, with water or on the rocks, it also performs nicely added to cocktails like the Old Fashioned.
