Following Jefferson’s 25th anniversary, the new Marian McLain expression is a tribute to their founder's 8th generation grandmother: one of the earliest women on record for distilling and selling whiskey in America.
In 1799, Marian McLain was arrested for distilling and selling whiskey without paying taxes. Her tenacity and determination to provide for her family left a legacy that inspired both the Jefferson’s Bourbon brand and this exceptionally bold, balanced blend.
Marian McLain Bourbon offers a citrus nose with notes of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, honey, cinnamon, red fruit and a bold pepper finish.
Capturing a broad range in one category, American Whiskey refers to any spirit made in America by distilling a mash of fermented grains—typically corn, wheat, rye or barley. American Whiskey must be distilled to no more than 95% alcohol and bottled at 40% or higher. In order to be labeled a straight Whiskey, it also must be aged in white oak barrels for a minimum of two years and not contain any added colors or flavors.
