Winemaker Notes
Silky, full bodied, age-worthy Cabernet with ample layers of black cherry, bright creme de cassis, hints of chocolate, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, saddle leather and toasted spices. Substantial, yet supple tannins with a remarkably long, complex finish. Stylish, classic Bordeaux-styled collector's Napa Cabernet. Decant 1-10 years, enjoy 20+ years.

A juicy and rich cab with currant and chocolate character. Full body, soft and round tannins and a flavorful finish. A little old-school, but soft and juicy. Drink now.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Steffensen Vineyard seems significantly more concentrated than the 2013, with dense blackberry and blueberry fruit, sweet tannin, and the sucrosity that is a hallmark of this vintage. This looks to be greatly superior to its sibling from 2013.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Steffensen Vineyard is 100% varietal and comes from a site in the cooler Coombsville region of the valley. It reveals the standard saturated purple color that's common in this vintage as well as perfumed and lifted notes of crème de cassis, plums, crushed violets, incense, and licorice. Rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and pure, it has plenty to love as well.
A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
Situated in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley in the Vaca range, the vineyards of the Coombsville AVA enjoy a long growing season mitigated by cool, San Pablo Bay fog.
