Winemaker Notes

Light yellow color. Delicate and gentle nose of sweet field flowers: camomile, elder, iris. Minced palate with sweet almond aftertaste.

Pairs well with risotto, white fish, and raw fish.

Critical Acclaim

V 91
Vinous
Bright straw. Pear and apple on the fresh, deep nose. Then juicy with clean flavors of apple jelly, white stone fruit and minerals; has good weight and texture. Finishes clean, fresh and with a delightful crystalline quality. Very impressive.

Inama, Soave, Veneto, Italy
Image of winery
In the 1960s, Giuseppe Inama, the estate's founder, began using his savings to purchase small plots of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico region. At that time few understood the area's potential but Giuseppe believed that he could make a wine capable of restoring Soave's reputation by working with only top quality vineyards of old-vine Garganega (Soave's original grape). Today, Inama comprises 70 acres of vineyards in the heart of the Soave Classico and Giuseppe's son Stefano, who assumed control of te winemaking in 1992 and has wordly outlook, is considered a dynamic visionary of the region.

Garganega

View all wine

Flourishing in the rolling vineyards surrounding the medieval village of Soave in the Veneto region, Garganega is one of Italy’s classic white varieties. It makes up 70 to 100% of any Soave (white wine) by law, with the remainder finished off traditionally by Trebbiano di Soave for its crispness. More recently international varieties like Chardonnay are being used to create softer and fruitier Soave.

The best Soave wines come from the Soave Classico zone, where the hills are made of decomposed granite soils and have the capacity to produce elegant and vibrant wines. The remainder of the zone tends to give rounder and fuller versions of Garganega.

Garganega’s best white wines are steely and delicate with yellow peach, melon, almond, Herbs de Provence and lime zest flavors and aromas. Its simpler versions can offer great values and make wonderful quaffers. If you like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris, try Graganega for something a little different.
