Hestan Vineyards Chardonnay 2017
Coming from a two acre parcel in the San Francisco Bay AVA, this 2017 Chardonnay emphasizes a well balanced Chardonnay. A lovely light-toned gold color in the glass gives way to tropical fruits with notes of lemon zest, pineapple, and hazelnut. A substantial influence from the San Pablo Bay helps this wine carry a great balance of acidity and weight.
From opulent to elegantly finessed, each of our wines pays homage to the artistic interplay between our vineyard’s diverse terroir and our winemakers’ stylistic interpretation.
A large Northern California appellation centered on the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay AVA falls within the larger Central Coast AVA. The smaller appellations of Livermore Valley, Pacheco Pass, San Ysidro District and Santa Clara Valley AVAs fall within the San Francisco Bay boundaries, and all produce high-quality Central Coast wines.
One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.
