Distiller Notes
The flagship release of Hampden Estate reflects the first time that the distillery has aged and bottled their own production since their founding in 1753. This bottling is aged for 8 years in the tropical conditions of the distillery, equivalent to nearly 25 years of European aging. Excellent for sipping and mixology.
Genuine and complex. On the nose, ripe banana, allspice, dried orange zest and baked apple. On the palate, ginger, vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee bean and resin. A lingering and enticing finish.
Often referred to as a Gold Rum, an Aged Rum is one that has been aged in barrels, often Ex-Bourbon or White Oak before bottling. As the Rum continues to age, it draws more and more color and flavor from the wood, adding both body and complexity to the finished product. Aged Rums can be sipped neat or added to cocktails. They fall somewhere in between White and Dark Rums in terms of their respective strength of flavor.
