James Suckling
Very expressive nose of passion fruit, wet stones, smoke and wild herbs. Concentrated, juicy and racy, with impressive drive and focus. The citrus, wild herb and berry aromas cascade over the palate at the long, very clean finish. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Pettenthal Riesling trocken GG offers a clear, deep yet bright and complex, very elegant and beautifully flinty bouquet of crushed or finely weathered stones, herbs (dried rosemary) and ripe mirabelles. Rich and dense on the palate, this is a powerful and firmly structured Riesling with crystalline acidity and uplifting salinity. The finish is still very young, which means tight and grippy, even slightly dryish, but this will all come together.
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
