Winemaker Notes

This is a powerful, classically structured wine made in a full- bodied style that possess underlying grace. Our signature Cabernet commences with inviting cassis, tobacco, and cocoa aromas. In the mouth, gorgeous depth and complexity shine with hints of coffee bean, nutmeg, and toasted oak. The tannins are finely ground and sweet, providing an elegant and expressive finish.

Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc

A very good, down-the-middle Napa cab with great red and black fruit flavors and a warm, moderately tannic texture. Full-bodied, blended from different parts of the valley floor, it is mouth-filling, generous and nicely concentrated.

Frank Family's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from several different vineyards, largely in the Rutherford area. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged in one-third new French oak, it offers up mixed red and black cherries accented by oaky spice. It's medium to full-bodied, framed by soft, supple tannins, then firms up a bit on the finish. A solid entry-level effort, it lacks concentration but is a ripe, easygoing, steakhouse red at a realistic price. it should also be easy to find—and sometimes at a discounted price.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
