The world’s leading Amaro brand, this gold-medal, award winning spirit contains 27 herbs and spices from 4 continents and still uses the same 175-year-old secret recipe first created by the Branca family in 1845.With almost no sugar, its complex, bitter yet balanced flavor profile reveals notes of mint, ginger, rhubarb and chamomile. A bartender’s favorite, Fernet-Branca is the perfect herbal modifier for a variety of classic cocktails such as the Manhattan, Negroni and Collins.
A first sip to taste the bitter notes of Colombo, Aloe, and the unmistakable tang of Gentian. A second small sip will reveal the spicy notes of Zedoary and the full-bodied flavor of Chamomile. With the final sip, the liqueur unveils its full repertoire of flavors: the overall effect is bitter, but a delicately spicy aftertaste lingers—the flavor of Myrrh.
The Fratelli Branca Distillery was founded by Bernardino Branca and his three sons in 1845 when they started producing a bitter herbal liqueur, Fernet-Branca,through a secret formula that has remained such for 173 years. Fratelli Branca is a sixth-generation business run by Count Niccolò Branca. His son, Edoardo Branca is now managing the Fratelli Branca business in the United States. Fratelli Branca is still privately owned with 100% ownership by the Branca Family.
First prepared by 13th century Italian monks as herbal medicines and elixirs, Liqueurs are distilled spirits that have been combined with flavoring agents. A range of herbs, spices, nuts, fruits and flowers can be used, and a sweetener such as sugar or corn syrup is often added. While typically rather sweet, some examples are herbaceous or tart and pair exceptionally well with desserts or act as a delightful addition to cocktails.
