A very absorbing nose of raspberries, dried thyme and lavender, with a touch of cedar. The palate is well-knit, composed and balanced, with polished tannins interwoven with delicate red fruit. The finish is equally gentle, subdued yet vibrant. Drink or hold.

Prapò has a way of making everything feel effortless and this vintage is no exception. Dried cherry, rosebud, sweet whole spices and warmed sandalwood arrive with a lifted, almost weightless elegance that holds you there longer than you expect. The palate is generous but always purposeful, super fine tannins moving through with quiet authority rather than force. This is not a wine chasing power. It already has it. Drink now to 2050.

The Ettore Germano 2022 Barolo Prapò is a plump, richly textured expression from Serralunga d'Alba with all the power and volume for which this celebrated MGA is known. Alongside its dark fruit core, the wine reveals a savory dimension accented by sweet spice and cinnamon from its extended oak aging. Fermented with 40 to 45 days of maceration before spending two years in large oak casks and another year in bottle, it is built for longevity. Like its sister Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba, however, there is a brief moment of leanness across the mid-palate that gives the wine a more approachable personality at this stage. Approximately 9,000 bottles were produced.
Responsible for some of the most elegant and age-worthy wines in the world, Nebbiolo, named for the ubiquitous autumnal fog (called nebbia in Italian), is the star variety of northern Italy’s Piedmont region. Grown throughout the area, as well as in the neighboring Valle d’Aosta and Valtellina, it reaches its highest potential in the Piedmontese villages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero. Outside of Italy, growers are still very much in the experimentation stage but some success has been achieved in parts of California.
