Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Espectacle del Montsant has a bright ruby color and a very perfumed and elegant nose with no signs of excess ripeness, with 14.5% alcohol. As 2021 was a much cooler year, the wine is more elegant than ever (following the cooler years like 2014), textured and with very fine tannins. It has an intoxicating nose of red fruit and blood orange, violets and a spicy twist with pungent flavors and a finish that is dominated by violet pastille and is pungent, intense, clean and very long. It's multi-layered, precise, nuanced and ever-changing in the glass. It has to be one of the most elegant and finest vintages of Espectacle, with the natural freshness from the year. Bravo!

Vinous
The 2021 Espectacle is 100% Garnatxa Negra from an old, terraced, north-facing vineyard with a panoramic view of the Montsant River Valley. Crafted in a cool vintage, this garnet-hued red offers liqueur-like aromas of flowers and bitter orange, along with a deep core of sour cherry marmalade. Dry, light and silky, it glides on the palate with a weightless yet taut mouthfeel. This lean, thirst-quenching red is full of energy.

Spicy overlay of green peppercorn and white pepper on top of the red cherries and raspberries. Light to medium body on the palate with firm tannins and a touch of bitter grapefruit and spices at the end. 100% Garnacha.
Grenache thrives in any warm, Mediterranean climate where ample sunlight allows its clusters to achieve full phenolic ripeness. While Grenache's birthplace is Spain (there called Garnacha), today it is more recognized as the key player in the red blends of the Southern Rhône, namely Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes du Rhône and its villages. Somm Secret—The Italian island of Sardinia produces bold, rustic, single varietal Grenache (there called Cannonau). California, Washington and Australia have achieved found success with Grenache, both flying solo and in blends.
