Distiller Notes

Pale amber color, superb purity. Succulent, wafting bouquet with whiffs of aromatic honey oak that gives way to a rich nuanced roasted agave aroma with traces of citrus tree wood, almond nougat and caraway. Luscious and velvety entry. A slightly chewy, fruity, sweet medium-to-full body redolent of thick honey and fresh grass, vanilla, toasted marshmallow with notes of sassafras and apple. Smooth and long finish with rich flavors of honey, black tea, coconut flesh, banana and candy corn with apple and peppermint accents.

Earthy scents of mushroom and dried leaves lead to a dusky, brooding palate. Cigar leaf, caramel, and sandalwood inform a woodsy profile that persists without overpowering the heady agave notes.

Because of their great complexity, Anejo Tequilas are most often used as a substitute for Brandy or Whiskey in cocktails like the Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Anejo Tequilas must be aged in oak barrels for between one and three years, while Extra Anejo refers to any Tequila aged longer than three years. The prolonged contact with the oak barrel allows the wood to make a much stronger impression on the Tequila by adding toffee, caramel and vanilla to the sweet, spicy agave flavor profile.
