Winemaker Notes
Peachy, almost delicate, meyer lemons and a back-palate stoniness, but one must wait as it had just been sulfured. The site is next door to Hermannshöhle on a mélange of Rotliegend and porphyry; some of it is steep and some is flat, and often it feels a little like Nierstein-meets-Felsenberg.

Wonderful stone-fruit aromas and wonderful juiciness that’s hard to resist. So energetic and barely off-dry. A cascade of berries and stone fruit at the very long, pristine finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification.

The 2021 Niederhäuser Klamm Riesling Kabinett is from volcanic soils and comes pure and refined yet intense and spicy on the nose, with notes of crushed stones and salts. Lush and racy on the palate, this is a light yet intense and juicy, piquant and stimulatingly grippy Kabinett that is also a bit too rich for the predicate, but it's a fascinating Riesling again. 9% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Rating: 92+
Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.
