Winemaker Notes

This wine is fruity, generous, and well balanced. It has the potential to age very well. La Corvee has been rewarded and honored many times. Drink this lovely wine with local specialties such as Boeuf Bourguignon and "oeufs en meurette" (eggs poached in red wine and served with a Pinot Noir sauce!).

COMMENTARY: Over the years Ladoix has been one of my favorite wines from the Côte de Beaune. The wine's elegance and focus are as beautiful as any of its neighbors. The 2014 Domaine Naudant Ladoix La Corvée Premier Cru is an excellent example of why this area is so highly regarded. TASTING NOTES. This wine is perky, bright, and long. Its aromas and flavors of ripe red fruit, enticing vanilla, and black, dusty earth would pair well with grilled lamb chops. (Tasted: September 11, 2018, San Francisco, CA USA)

Thin-skinned, finicky and temperamental, Pinot Noir is also one of the most rewarding grapes to grow and remains a labor of love for some of the greatest vignerons in Burgundy. Fairly adaptable but highly reflective of the environment in which it is grown, Pinot Noir prefers a cool climate and requires low yields to achieve high quality. Outside of France, outstanding examples come from in Oregon, California and throughout specific locations in wine-producing world. Somm Secret—André Tchelistcheff, California’s most influential post-Prohibition winemaker decidedly stayed away from the grape, claiming “God made Cabernet. The Devil made Pinot Noir.”

Another charming village of the Côte de Beaune district of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, Ladoix-Serrigny produces mainly Premier Cru Pinot Noir, but also some Chardonnay. Interestingly, some of the villages’ Premiers Crus vineyards overlap with nearby Aloxe-Corton.
