Winemaker Notes

Cuvee de la Reine des Bois Chateauneuf-du-Pape has deep ruby red color and red fruit aromas leading to leather, black truffles and coffee notes. Fat and concentrated on the palate, with licorice and dark fruit flavors. Pairs well with game and red meats or cheeses.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Evolving beautifully, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de La Reine des Bois has shed some of its crazy tannin and is showing a more layered, voluptuous profile. Possessing beautiful kirsch, blackberry, candied licorice, flowers and lavender, it offers knockout richness and decadence to go with brilliant purity of fruit, superb concentration, and a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel. While I don’t think it matches the ’01 or ’10, it’s an incredible bottle of wine that can be consumed anytime over the coming 10-15 years.

Wine Spectator
Stunning in its combination of density, purity and elegance. There's plenty of dark fig, cassis, pastis and crushed plum fruit, along with melted licorice, ganache and black tea notes. But the texture is supple, the tannins silky and the finish long and beguiling. Harnesses the precociousness of the vintage with true depth and length. Best from 2010 through 2030.

Domaine de la Mordoree, France
Domaine de la Mordoree Winery Image
Ideally situated at the crossroads of Provence and Languedoc, the Domaine de la Mordoree produces some of the greatest vintages of the Rhone valley: Lirac, Tavel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu.

Coming from a long line of winegrowers, the Domaine de la Mordoree was created in 1986 with the philosophy of growing the best possible wines. To that purpose, the best plots and the finest varieties have been chosen, and the winemakers implement cultivation methods that aim at really preserving the environment, while combining tradition and modernity.

In the course of time, 55 hectares of vineyards have been grown, spread over 35 different plots and 8 communes. This division comes from the decision of choosing the best "terroirs" with a wide variety of microclimates.
