Distiller Notes
For this modern classic Vermouth Finish Rye, Dad's Hat selected casks previously inhabited by Quady Winery's Vya Sweet Vermouth to create an amazing double finish rye. The process takes our classic rye, already matured for at least six months, and ages for an additional three months in select vermouth barrels. The warm, balanced flavor of American vermouth coupled with our smooth, spicy rye delivers an exceptional nose with a distinctive taste and character all its own.

The only Pennsylvania-style rye actually made in Pennsylvania is finished for three months in former sweet-vermouth casks from Quady Winery. The base rye has a bananas and honey character; this builds on it nicely with layers of raisin, figs, dates and caramel, finishing attractively spiced. Small batch.
Known for its peppery, spicy bite, Rye serves as the ideal base for cocktails like the Sazerac, Manhattan or Old Fashioned. In order for a spirit to be labeled an American Rye Whiskey, the mash bill must be comprised of at least 51% rye grain. The remainder of the mash is most often a combination of malted barley, wheat or corn. After distillation is complete, the spirit is transferred to unused, charred white oak barrels for a minimum of two years, though many producers choose to age longer.
