Winemaker Notes

The Clarendon Hills Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of lavender and blueberry layered with notes of mocha and cedar. It exhibits a dense and meaty profile and is bathed in savory and spice components that flicker around the majestic, yet refined structure. This Cabernet has big tannins and a silky texture in the wake of complex layers.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 Sandown Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon shows off notes of fresh cassis, blackberries and thyme with nuances of cedar and pencil shavings plus a whiff of capsicum. Medium-bodied with a good amount of muscular, savory fruit it is supported by a firm backbone of chewy tannins, vibrant acid and is finishing long. Drink this one 2014 to 2022+. Rating: 90+

Known for opulent red wines with intense power and concentration, McLaren Vale is home to perhaps the most “classic” style of Australian Shiraz. Vinified on its own or in Rhône Blends, these hot-climate wines are deeply colored and high in extract with signature hints of dark chocolate and licorice. Cabernet Sauvignon is also produced in a similar style.

Whites, often made from Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc tend to be opulent and full of tropical, stone and citrus fruit.
