Winemaker Notes

Earthy, savory fruited and controlled. It has a deep layering of Kalamata, cigars, espresso and black truffle - within a defined blue-fruited spectrum. It also offers a sublime creaminess along an evolving expression.

The 2007 Syrah Brookman features violets, blueberry compote, and blackberry liqueur-like aromas leading to a dense, flavorful, rich Syrah with plenty of underlying tannin.

This ripe and generous red boasts a powerful mouthful of plum, currant and dusky spice flavors, turning smoky and meaty as the finish lingers impressively against crisp tannins.

The drought intensity of the 2007 vintage has left a strong mark on Roman Bratasiuk’s entire lineup. The 2007 Brookman shows great intensity and powerful tar, blueberry, coffee and black olive aromas and flavors. Given this wine’s concentration, it should last through 2020, perhaps longer.

2007 Clarendon Brookman Syrah A rich, black wine, this has some fruit-skin freshness to the flavor. An herbal spice hints at acidity underneath the wine's syrupy weight and dark tannin. Give this a few years of age, then serve with braised beef cheeks.

Marked by an unmistakable deep purple hue and savory aromatics, Syrah makes an intense, powerful and often age-worthy red. Native to the Northern Rhône, Syrah achieves its maximum potential in the steep village of Hermitage and plays an important component in the Red Rhône Blends of the south, adding color and structure to Grenache and Mourvèdre. Syrah is the most widely planted grape of Australia and is important in California and Washington. Sommelier Secret—Such a synergy these three create together, the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre trio often takes on the shorthand term, “GSM.”

Known for opulent red wines with intense power and concentration, McLaren Vale is home to perhaps the most “classic” style of Australian Shiraz. Vinified on its own or in Rhône Blends, these hot-climate wines are deeply colored and high in extract with signature hints of dark chocolate and licorice. Cabernet Sauvignon is also produced in a similar style.

Whites, often made from Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc tend to be opulent and full of tropical, stone and citrus fruit.
