Winemaker Notes

This wine has an intense ruby color and develops an expressive bouquet where red fruits go well with spicy, vanilla and coconut notes left over from a twelve-month stay in barrels. This balance is found in a silky, round, supple palate, with good volume, supported by quality tannins. A well-bred wine, with a beautiful structure and a beautiful length.

With a good balance between the 60% Merlot and 40% of the two Cabernets, this wood-aged wine shows a rounded, generous character. It is still structured and still shows a touch of smokiness from the wood. However, the rich black fruits are beginning to shine. Drink the wine from 2020.

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
