Winemaker Notes

Nice color, supple, deep, crystal-clear. Fine vanilla nose, crystallized red fruit. In the mouth, very rich, long fine and racey, this wine is aromatic. Great class!

Can be served all along a meal, light or spicy. This wine will come out nicely especially with cheese.

Chateau Le Peuy-Saincrit, France
This property, 14 hectares in one block, is situated at the edge of Saint-André de Cubzac, beside a medieval pilgrim route to Saint James of Compostella in Spain. This domaine has the particularity of being placed exactly on the 45th parallel. It produces wines from the appellations of "Bordeaux Blanc" and "Bordeaux Rouge" Superieur.

Le Peuy-Saincrit is located on Montalon hill, the highest point of the region, and therefore benefits from the exceptional conditions of sunlight. The wines are typical of the appellation - silver medal at Vinalies and the Paris Agricultural show in 1997.

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
