Winemaker Notes

Nice pale straw-like yellow with golden highlights. Crisp, powerful, intensely fruity nose with aromas of citrus fruits, white peaches, and pineapple. Fresh on the palate. A round, ample wine with good structure and balance; flavors of white fruits. The oak gives good structure, but is not overwhelming. Nice long finish. Overall, an elegant and highly refined wine. An excellent Graves in its price range.

The 2024 Château Langet hits all the right notes. It captures the soul of Sauvignon Blanc—crisp and focused, yet layered with tropical vibrancy, straddling the line between Old World restraint and New World exuberance. Its enticing mix of citrus, spice, and fresh herbs makes it more than just a refresher; it’s a thinking wine. Pair it with Thai green curry, whether made with shrimp or tofu, and let the wine’s brightness temper the heat while complementing the curry’s fragrant complexity. This ripe, full wine has a fine balance between acidity and tropical flavors. A mown grass aroma and a tight texture give the wine a fresh edge and aging potential. Drink from 2026.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.

Famous for both its red and white wines, Graves is a large region, extending 30 miles southeast of the city of Bordeaux, along the left bank of the Garonne River. Red wine producing vineyards cover well over three times as much area as the whites. In the late 1980s, the French created the separate appellation of Pessac-Léognan within the northern confines of Graves. It includes all of its most famous properties, and the southern suburbs of the city Bordeaux itself. In French "graves" is a term used to indicate gravelly soils.
